Radio Dismuke
Listening Instructions

To listen, all you need is a computer with sound card and speakers.  You must also have an Internet connection of 33 kbps or higher. If this is the first time you have listened to a broadcast via Live365.com on your computer, you will be automatically guided through the configuration process.  While Live365.com broadcasts are compatible with most MP3 players such as RealPlayer, MusicMatch, and Winamp, it is strongly recommended that you use the free Player365 which will download and install automatically when you select it as your default player during the configuration process.  One of the advantages of the Player365 is it will automatically reconnect if the broadcast stream is interrupted. Windows Media Player is not recommended as it may result in long buffering delays. Note: Live365 does not currently support Netscape Version 6

ISSUE:  Unable to connect to broadcast after set up/listeners hear a recording that says "this station is unavailable."

One common cause of difficulty with the broadcast is that there seems to be a conflict between the free Live 365 stream and many ad blocking software programs.  Live 365 funds the free broadcasts through sales of recorded ads inserted in the audio stream as well as pop up ads and banner ads in the player window.  For listeners who dislike such ads, Live 365 offers premium ad free listening for a small monthly fee.  Apparently, Live 365 has configured the free streams in such a way as to prevent listeners from using ad blocking software to bypass the ads for free.  There are a number of ad blocking programs on the market - and it seems that some will interfere with the broadcast more than others.

If you encounter problems listening, the first thing you should do is determine if you are running any ad blocking programs.  If so, disable the program and try to connect to the broadcast.  If you are then able to listen, then you will know that you will need to temporarily disable the program while you are listening and turn it back on when you are finished. (One thing that may or may not work is to disable the ad blocking software and, once the broadcast stream starts, turn it back on.  If the music continues to play, then you will be able to listen while blocking ads.  If the music stops playing once the software is enabled, you will need to keep it disabled until you are finished listening)

One software program that will interfere with the broadcast is the ad blocking option in Norton Internet Security.  To listen to the broadcast, simply open up Internet Security, go to the "Ad Blocking" section and uncheck the "Enable Ad Blocking" box.  You may turn the ad blocking back on anytime after the broadcast begins to stream.

ISSUE  Unable to connect to broadcast directly through media players such as Real Player.
Live 365 no longer allows listeners to connect directly through media players.  Instead, you will need to connect through the broadcast links on this site or on the stations page on the Live 365 website which will bring up a Live 365 player window.

ISSUE  Longtime listeners are being asked to enter a user name and password.

Live 365 is now requiring listeners to select a user name and password and log in before they can listen to broadcasts.  The broadcast is still free and it costs nothing to sign up for a user name.  The reason for the new policy is that having members logged in enables Live 365 to better target its instream and banner advertisements to a given listener's tastes.  It also enables them to target listeners geographically.  If you have privacy concerns about having to log in or are concerned that Live 365 might send you spam, my suggestion would be to get a free Hotmail or Yahoo account and use that address when you register.

Important: Because of time concerns, it is very difficult for me to assist listeners with troubleshooting technical difficulties that they may encounter with the broadcast.  Please refer your questions and concerns to the help section on the Live365.com website before contacting me.  If you do contact me regarding such issues, please understand that I may be too busy at the time to respond.  The station is a hobby and I do have other commitments and interests that also demand my time.  I will attempt to post solutions to frequently encountered difficulties as I become aware of them.
